Lera Lynn is the American songwriter whose original music ran through True Detective, and the billing fits: her work sits where alt-Americana meets indie rock and a certain cinematic noir. She has kept a firmly independent path, releasing through her own label, Ruby Range Records, and writing for film, television and video games. Her 2025 album Comic Book Cowboy is the reference point here, a record about adult life told with dry humor.
