Aeschylus' Persians is the oldest surviving complete work of ancient Greek drama and the first theatrical recording of historical events. Directed by Christos Theodoridis, the production stars Maria Naupliotou, Dimitris Katalifos, Anastasis Roilos and Stavros Svingos with an 18-member chorus. Aeschylus, an eyewitness to the Battle of Salamis, created this 'scenic reportage' of war just eight years after catastrophe. Theodoridis approaches the work as an anti-war cry, continuing his practice with politically charged themes. The narrative follows twenty-two figures confronting absolute loss and grief that becomes collective and unyielding.
