Πέρσες (περιοδεία)

Aeschylus's "Persians" stands as the oldest surviving complete work of ancient Greek drama and the first theatrical recording of historical events. The playwright, an eyewitness to the Battle of Salamis, created a "theatrical report" of war just eight years after the catastrophe. Director Christos Theodoridis approaches the work as a profound anti-war cry, continuing his artistic engagement with politically charged and urgent contemporary themes. Twenty-two people await news of an accomplished disaster. When the messenger returns from the front, his words give shape to fear: the loss is absolute. The chorus becomes collective, persistent, and uncompromising, mourning the dead, the lost past, and the future swallowed with them. The performance centers on humanity confronting loss, opening a timeless dialogue on the defeated across every era and every side.
