Aeschylus' landmark tragedy Persae receives a new production directed by Christos Theodoridis, featuring Maria Nafplioti, Dimitris Katalipos, Anastasis Roylos, and Stavros Svigkos alongside a dynamic 18-member chorus. The play stands as the oldest surviving complete work of ancient Greek drama and the first theatrical record of historical events. Aeschylus, an eyewitness to the Battle of Salamis, crafted a 'scenic reportage' of war merely eight years after the catastrophe. Theodoridis approaches the work as a profound anti-war statement, continuing his artistic engagement with politically charged contemporary themes. The production examines humanity confronting loss, opening a timeless dialogue on the defeated across all eras and conflicts.
