The Aeschylia Festival 2026 presents Ηλέκτρα by M. Kakogiannis (1962), a landmark screening at the IRIS cultural space on Eleusis beach. Now in its 52nd edition, the festival, organized by the Municipality of Eleusis since 1975, continues to bring cultural vitality to western Athens. The former industrial site has been transformed into a dynamic cultural venue featuring heritage-protected structures. A distinctive chimney and two interwar-era buildings stand as significant examples of industrial architecture. The venue exemplifies the city's cultural transformation, converting industrial heritage into a vibrant destination for residents and visitors alike. This screening is part of the festival's diverse programme, which encompasses theatre productions, concerts, visual art exhibitions and films. The festival runs through early October, presenting selected cultural events and artistic offerings.
