Aristophanes' ancient comedy Peace receives a new theatrical interpretation through direction and conception by Nikos Karatanos, with adaptation, original text and songs by Foivos Delivorias. This production emerged from the Epidaurus premiere and traverses Greece to selected cities. The play, originally performed in 421 BC, contrasts war's absurdity with the vital force of music, collective action and folk celebration. Director Karatanos and his collaborators present the work as both comic argument and rural festival, countering warfare's destruction through shared human energy. Aristophanes juxtaposes the violence and profit of warmongers with the fertility and collective wellbeing that peace brings. The production responds to an enduring critique: wars that benefit few while harming many remain perpetually urgent.
