Aristophanes' ancient comedy Peace travels to selected Greek cities following its Epidaurus premiere. Directed by Nikos Karathanis with adaptation and original songs by Phoebus Delihorias, the production stars Angelos Triantafyllou and presents a theatrical response to war through music, collective energy, and popular festivity. The play, written during Athens' exhaustion from the Peloponnesian War, examines humanity's inexplicable fixation on conflict and its destructive consequences. In this new staging, Peace becomes a festival of a lost rural world, a comic and irresistible argument, a banquet of ordinary people improvised from the very smoke of war itself. The production explores how simple people persistently claim the right to peace, even against the logic of power. Audiences at Epidaurus responded with standing ovations despite challenging weather conditions.
