CLEANSED
Hosted by ΜΑΡΚΟΣ ΤΑΓΑΡΗΣ ΚΑΙ ΣΙΑ ΕΕ

Sarah Kane's "Cleansed," directed by Dimitri Karantza, is a 1998 play divided into 20 short scenes that functions as a manifesto for human dignity. In an institutional setting, six characters struggle to find their identities and voices: Graham, Grace, Carl, Rod, Robin, and a Woman. Each pursues different forms of liberation. Graham seeks death, Grace her brother, Carl demands absolute commitment, Rod pursues independence, Robin battles an inner voice, and the Woman seeks salvation and rebirth. Collectively, they resist a society that strips individuals of love, free will, and spirituality. They endure extreme trials orchestrated by an institutional authority, confronting brutality and deprivation. This dark, lyrical, and deeply physical work explores how human beings resist erasure to preserve their essence and freedom.
