Bio

Voukoliki Diatarachi are a Greek folk-rock collective from Thessaloniki. Their name translates as “Bucolic Disorder”, a useful clue to a band that treats the village feast as raw material for a loud, theatrical and deliberately unruly contemporary performance. The published lineup comprises Elena Avramioti on vocals and violin, Filippos Fasoulas on clarinet and vocals, Giorgis Sifakis on electric laouto, Vasilis Giannousis on electric bass and vocals, Christos Papas-Kremmydas on drums and percussion, and Giannis Didaskalou as the onstage Tragokeros character and creator of the group’s other creatures. The group describes its music as clarinet-led rock: Greek and Balkan traditional material played with rock energy rather than simply placed over conventional guitar riffs. Rebetiko, regional dance tunes and folk instrumentation feed into circular dances, amplified arrangements and a live show built around audience participation. Their releases include the album “Επιλογές Δημοτικά – The First CD of Voukolic Disorder”, while “Punkcheno” captures their combination of traditional melody, punk attitude and comic self-awareness. Their concerts operate as both band performances and modern panigyria, preserving the communal purpose of the repertoire while changing its volume, staging and context.
