TOQUEL is a Greek–Albanian rapper born Klaudjo Dhespo in Tepelenë, Albania, and raised in Heraklion, Crete. Having moved to Greece with his family while still an infant, he grew up within the social and cultural reality of a second-generation immigrant and began recording music during his teenage years. He launched his career in 2010, at the age of sixteen, gradually building an independent catalogue before becoming one of the central figures of Greece’s contemporary rap and trap scene. His earliest projects included I Roda Gyrise, Prin Anoixo Ta Matia Mou, Tora I Pote, San Esas and the Bum Rush EP, followed by Ligo Parapano in 2015. These releases documented his development from an underground rapper into a more focused songwriter, combining direct street narratives with increasingly melodic production and a distinctive, controlled vocal delivery. TOQUEL’s decisive breakthrough arrived with 777 in 2019. Built around collaborations and production closely associated with the new Greek trap movement, the project produced major tracks including Business, Sandra, Netflix and Stars with Light. It subsequently became the first EP in the history of the Greek recording industry to receive diamond certification from IFPI Greece, establishing TOQUEL as one of the country’s most commercially important urban artists. Beverly Hills followed in 2022, expanding his sound through polished trap production, introspective moments and lyrics moving between personal struggle, ambition, relationships and the imagery of financial success. The album was followed by 1111 in 2023, a record dedicated to his mother and named after her date of birth. Featuring tracks such as 3:15, Allou, G63 and Prosopika Freestyle, it reinforced the more personal dimension of his writing while producing another substantial run of streaming successes. In 2024, TOQUEL joined FLY LO and production duo Beyond for ILEGAL, a collaborative album that connected three of the most commercially prominent forces in contemporary Greek trap. His next major project, 10, was released across two parts in 2026. The first part entered Spotify’s Top Albums Debut Global chart and surpassed sixty million streams within its initial months, while the second introduced collaborations with Bloody Hawk, RACK and Saske. Across his catalogue, TOQUEL has developed a style in which autobiographical memories, family loyalty, immigrant experience and periods of personal difficulty coexist with the aspirational language and luxury symbolism of modern trap. His ability to move between vulnerable writing, tightly constructed freestyles and large-scale club records has made him one of the most streamed and influential Greek rappers of his generation.
