Bio

The Man & His Failures are an Athens-based industrial darkwave trio formed in 2018. The project began as the personal vision of vocalist and lyricist Manos Karakatsanis before Alekos Sorros and Dimitris Vlasopoulos joined in early 2019, establishing the core lineup that has remained together ever since. All three members arrived with substantial experience in the Greek independent scene, having previously been involved with acts including Mani Deum, Active Member, Brigada, Rodes, Sigmataf, Cyanna Mercury and Bombing the Avenue. Within The Man & His Failures, they found common ground in darker electronic music, combining post-punk basslines, industrial drum machines, cold synthesizers and the physical pulse of EBM with gothic and darkwave atmosphere. The group introduced its recorded identity through the MMXX EP in 2021, followed by the split release Devastations / R.Daneel with Incirrina. Chapter One: MMXX & More collected their formative material in 2024, including Persona Non Grata, Nothing, The Dagger and Devastations alongside remixes and their cover of A.R.E. Weapons’ Weird Wild Free. Their later releases included a collaboration with Italian darkwave band This Eternal Decay on a version of The Sisters of Mercy’s Driven Like the Snow and the Subjects EP, featuring remixes by Nano Infect and Pre-Emptive Strike 0.1. Their debut full-length album, Survival Kit, was released through Geheimnis Records in December 2025. Conceived as a continuous narrative with a prologue, central story and closing resolution, the album portrays social collapse, addiction, alienation and the daily struggle for survival within the failing structures of late capitalism. Tracks including Collapsing Youth, Solid State, Subjects, Blood on the Ground and the title track combine political and existential writing with dark electro, EBM, industrial rhythms and more melodic synth-driven passages. Survival Kit was produced by Alekos Sorros and mixed and mastered by Panos Tsekouras at Top Floor Studio. Rather than presenting an imagined dystopian future, the band describe its subject matter as a reflection of contemporary reality and of life within an increasingly hostile urban environment. The Man & His Failures have also become an active presence in the Greek dark and alternative live circuit, appearing alongside international artists including Front 242, Fontaines D.C., Alexander Hacke, Minuit Machine, Haujobb, Suicide Commando, Diorama, Ultra Sunn and This Eternal Decay. Through their recordings, visual work and confrontational performances, the trio have developed a form of dark electronic music that remains danceable while addressing political apathy, emotional exhaustion and the ruins of modern life.
