The Beatles Symphonic Fantasy is an international orchestral production created by Argentine conductor, composer and arranger Damián Mahler in collaboration with Sira Música. Conceived during the pandemic, the project reimagines the music of The Beatles through original symphonic arrangements while preserving the melodies, structures and instrumental character of the original recordings.
Rather than functioning as a conventional tribute band, the production combines a symphony orchestra with a live rock ensemble. The vocalists and musicians representing The Beatles are selected in association with Liverpool’s Cavern Club, the venue closely connected with the band’s early history.
The programme moves through different periods of The Beatles’ catalogue, combining early rock-and-roll and Beatlemania-era material with the more elaborate studio compositions of Revolver, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Beatles, Abbey Road and Let It Be. Mahler’s arrangements expand the harmonic and emotional dimensions of the songs through strings, brass, woodwinds and orchestral percussion without replacing their central guitar, bass, keyboard and drum parts.
The Beatles Symphonic Fantasy has been staged internationally with orchestras of different sizes, adapting its symphonic component to each host city while retaining its permanent live-band format and central arrangements.
The production makes its Athens debut at Christmas Theater on 2 December 2026 in collaboration with the Athens State Orchestra. The performance brings Mahler’s arrangements together with musicians selected through the Cavern Club and one of Greece’s oldest and most important orchestral institutions.
