Bio

Tempers is the New York-based darkwave and synth-pop project of singer, songwriter and multidisciplinary artist Jasmine Golestaneh. Founded in 2013, the project initially operated as a duo with producer and instrumentalist Eddie Cooper, developing an atmospheric sound built from shadowy synthesizers, sparse guitar textures, propulsive electronic rhythms and Golestaneh’s restrained, introspective vocals. Tempers introduced this identity through early singles including Strange Harvest and Undoing before releasing the debut album Services in 2015. The record established the project within the international darkwave and post-punk underground, pairing danceable electronic structures with themes of desire, distance, isolation and emotional instability. The Fundamental Fantasy EP followed in 2017 after a creative residency connected with the Volcano Extravaganza festival on the island of Stromboli. In 2018, Tempers collaborated with architect Rem Koolhaas on Junkspace, an experimental concept album examining shopping centres, consumer architecture and the psychological environments created around commercial life. After signing with Dais Records, Tempers released Private Life in 2019. The album refined the project’s cinematic mixture of dark synth-pop, post-punk and downtempo electronics, exploring loneliness, envy, intimacy and the constructed identities people present to one another. Services was subsequently reissued internationally by Dais in 2020. New Meaning arrived in 2022. Written during a period of pandemic isolation and uncertainty, the album used nocturnal electronics, shoegaze atmosphere and carefully controlled arrangements to examine impermanence, mortality and the search for meaning within unstable circumstances. Tempers later evolved into Golestaneh’s solo project. Its fourth principal studio album, Delusion, was released in 2026 through her own fear of luxury label and co-produced with Jorge Elbrecht. Moving between synth-pop, techno, heavier guitar textures, strings and balladic passages, the album approaches delusion not simply as a break from reality but as a survival mechanism shaped by memory, desire, distraction and social pressure. Across the project’s catalogue, Tempers has maintained a distinct balance between club-oriented rhythm and private emotional writing. Its music draws from darkwave and post-punk without functioning as a straightforward revival, using electronic production, visual art and conceptual collaboration to explore the unstable space between self-invention and self-erasure.
