Slomosa

Slomosa are a Norwegian stoner rock band from Bergen whose riff-heavy sound combines the influence of the Californian desert-rock scene with grunge, alternative rock and the melodic directness of modern heavy music. Describing their style as “Tundra Rock,” the group translate the heat and repetition of Palm Desert rock into music shaped by the colder landscapes of western Norway. The band introduced their sound with the self-titled album Slomosa in 2020. Written before they had developed an international profile, the record’s combination of thick guitar tones, memorable vocal hooks and driving rhythms quickly attracted listeners beyond Norway. Songs including Horses, Kevin, In My Mind’s Desert and There Is Nothing New Under the Sun established the foundations of their sound. After pandemic restrictions delayed their live expansion, Slomosa toured extensively across Europe alongside bands including Stöner, Orange Goblin and Sasquatch, eventually appearing at major festivals such as Hellfest. Their growing reputation was built less through stylistic novelty than through a particularly focused balance of heaviness, groove and concise songwriting. Their second album, Tundra Rock, was released in 2024 through Stickman Records. Featuring songs including Cabin Fever, Rice, Battling Guns and Red Thundra, the record expanded the debut’s formula through broader vocal arrangements, heavier production and increasingly varied structures without abandoning the repetitive riffs and melodic choruses at the centre of the band’s identity. Through these two albums and sustained international touring, Slomosa have developed Tundra Rock from a tongue-in-cheek description into a recognizable branch of contemporary Scandinavian heavy rock.
