Sex Mask are an Australian post-punk trio based in Melbourne. The self-contained writing and production unit consists of vocalist and lyricist Wry Gray, drummer and producer Vicente Moncada, and guitarist and synthesizer player Kaya Martin.
The band developed an abrasive but highly rhythmic sound combining sharp post-punk guitars, industrial percussion, new-wave electronics and the physical energy of dance-punk. Their songs balance confrontational performances and absurdist imagery with inward-looking lyrics concerned with obsession, isolation, disappointment and unstable human behaviour.
Sex Mask introduced their catalogue through a sequence of singles and double releases including TV Movie / No Love, Birds / Beheadal and How to Be Cool at Parties / Circe. These early recordings established the trio’s combination of tense guitar lines, forceful drums, unusual vocal phrasing and dark but frequently danceable arrangements.
Their Body Broker EP followed in November 2025, featuring Cold, Blisters, Curse and Dirt. The release expanded their sound through industrial beats, warmer melodic guitar passages and contributions from Noah Learmonth of Radio Free Alice.
In 2026, Sex Mask continued with Raid and a self-titled EP, pushing their music towards heavier electronics, motorik rhythms and increasingly volatile live energy. Their growing reputation has also been supported by appearances at SXSW, The Great Escape and Dot to Dot, alongside performances with artists including Fat White Family, Fcukers and Big Special.
Despite their deliberately chaotic presentation, Sex Mask operate with a tightly controlled internal creative process, writing and producing their material as a three-person unit rather than relying on a separate studio identity.
