Michael Tsaousopoulos

Michael Tsaousopoulos is a Greek DJ, radio producer, presenter and media executive whose career has played an important role in the development of private music radio and dance culture in Greece. Born in the Tambouria district of Piraeus, he developed an interest in broadcasting from a young age and experimented with pirate radio long before entering professional media. He began working professionally in radio during the early 1980s, initially producing and presenting music programmes during a period when Greek broadcasting remained largely controlled by the state. Following the emergence of municipal and private radio, he worked with stations including Athens 9.84, ANT1 Radio, Pop FM and Kiss FM, gradually becoming one of the country’s most recognisable music-radio personalities. Tsaousopoulos became particularly influential through his involvement in the creation and development of Radio DeeJay, later known as Athens DeeJay 95.2. The station helped bring international pop, dance and electronic music into mainstream Greek radio, combining contemporary playlists with energetic presentation, competitions and personality-led programming. He later assumed a wider executive role across Athens DeeJay, Rock FM 96.9 and Lampsi 92.3. Alongside his management work, Tsaousopoulos has remained active on air as the presenter of Breakfast στα FM. His broadcasting style combines music, humour, entertainment news and direct interaction with listeners, reflecting the personality-driven format that became common across Greek commercial radio. His career has also extended into television. During the 1990s, he presented music and entertainment programmes including 267 Music Power and the street-based game show ΝΑΙ ή ΟΧΙ. He later appeared as a judge on the Greek edition of The X Factor, bringing his experience in radio programming and commercial music to the talent-show format. As a DJ, Tsaousopoulos has performed extensively at clubs, festivals, beach venues and large public events throughout Greece. His sets generally focus on accessible dance music, house, pop remixes and international radio hits, often appearing under the Star DeeJay or DanceMasters event concepts. Tsaousopoulos has also participated directly in music production and remix work. His recorded catalogue includes collaborations and dance reinterpretations released with the Greek production team ARCADE, including remixes for artists such as good job nicky, Anna Argyrou and international pop acts. Across several decades, Michael Tsaousopoulos has operated simultaneously as a broadcaster, DJ, programmer and radio executive. His influence lies not only in his public performances but also in helping shape the sound, structure and presentation style of modern commercial music radio in Greece.
