Casket Dweller are a Greek old-school death metal band formed in Athens in 2022. The trio developed their sound around forceful, memorable riffing and the raw production traditions of early Swedish death metal, while also drawing from the classic Florida and Dutch scenes.
Their identity extends beyond the music into an atmosphere inspired by 1940s horror cinema and gothic literature. These influences shape both the band’s visual presentation and the decaying, nocturnal character of their songwriting, without turning the music into theatrical decoration at the expense of the riffs.
Casket Dweller introduced themselves in 2023 with the independent single Burnt at the Stake and subsequently built their presence through live appearances across the Greek underground. Their debut album, River of Slumber, is scheduled for release on 22 October 2026 through Nuclear Winter Records. Across nine tracks, the record combines crushing passages, darker atmospheric sections and restrained melodic elements within a firmly traditional death metal framework.
The current lineup consists of guitarist George Karvouniaris, bassist Chris Pallas, and drummer and vocalist Vangelis Deligiorgis. River of Slumber presents Casket Dweller as a contemporary continuation of old-school death metal, rooted in the genre’s established traditions but shaped by their own horror-centred world.
