Telenova are an Australian alternative-pop trio formed in Melbourne in 2020 by vocalist, songwriter and filmmaker Angeline Armstrong and multi-instrumentalists and producers Edward Quinn and Joshua Moriarty. Brought together through an APRA AMCOS songwriting initiative, the three musicians quickly developed a tightly integrated creative identity in which music, filmmaking, visual design and live performance form parts of the same imagined world.
The group introduced themselves in 2021 with Bones, a darkly elegant single built from hypnotic rhythms, cinematic strings and Armstrong’s restrained vocal delivery. It became the centrepiece of their debut EP, Tranquilize, and established the mixture of alternative pop, trip-hop atmosphere and detailed electronic production that would define their early work. The Stained Glass Love EP followed in 2022, expanding their sound through more pronounced pop hooks, orchestral textures and widescreen arrangements.
Their debut studio album, Time Is a Flower, arrived through EMI Music Australia in August 2024. Entirely shaped by the trio’s collaborative writing and production, the record brought together songs including Teardrop, Power, Discothèque Inside My Head and Margot. Its music moved between intimate electronic passages, dramatic art-pop and dance-oriented production, while Armstrong’s filmmaking background strengthened the band’s reputation for carefully constructed videos and surreal visual narratives.
Telenova continued with the BITCRUSH EP in 2025 before releasing their second album, THE WARNING, in February 2026. Produced by the trio, the record introduced a darker and more volatile sound through industrial electronics, distorted pop structures and songs including THE DEEP, IN THE NAME OF YOUR LOVE, VAPOR // SLOW DANCE and FAULT LINE. Its lyrics examine faith, anxiety, pressure and the attempt to preserve beauty and emotional clarity within an increasingly noisy world.
Across two albums and a growing international touring presence, Telenova have established a distinct form of cinematic alternative pop: polished enough to function as immediate pop music, but shadowed by trip-hop rhythms, experimental production and an unusually coherent visual imagination.
