Rapture are a Greek death/thrash metal band formed in Athens in 2012. Built around vocalist and guitarist Apostolos Papadimitriou, the group developed an uncompromising sound that combines the speed and tightly controlled riffing of thrash metal with death-metal vocals, violent rhythmic changes and an aggressively misanthropic atmosphere.
After early lineup changes, Rapture settled into a stable formation in late 2014 with Papadimitriou, guitarist Nikitas Melios, bassist Stamatis Petrou and drummer Giorgos Melios. The band released its debut album, Crimes Against Humanity, in 2015, followed by the Total Madness Reigns EP in 2016.
Their second album, Paroxysm of Hatred, arrived through Memento Mori Records in 2018 and sharpened the balance between technical thrash, old-school death metal and relentless speed. The record later received a Japanese reissue through Obliteration Records featuring additional material.
Rapture’s third full-length album, Malevolent Demise Incarnation, was released through FDA Records in 2021. More extreme and death-metal-oriented than its predecessors, the album retained the band’s tightly constructed thrash foundation while introducing heavier vocals, blast beats, longer compositions and darker atmospheric passages.
Across three albums and an extensive live history, Rapture have established themselves as one of the most consistent representatives of the contemporary Greek death/thrash underground, favouring precision, speed and sustained aggression over polished modern-metal conventions.
