Oh Hiroshima are a Swedish post-rock band formed in Kristinehamn in 2009 by Jakob Hemström and Leif Eliasson. Initially conceived as an experimental recording project, the group expanded with drummer Oskar Nilsson and bassist Simon Axelsson before later evolving into its current form as the duo of brothers Jakob Hemström and Oskar Nilsson.
The band’s music combines layered guitars, understated electronics, distant vocals and carefully paced arrangements that move between fragile, reflective passages and powerful crescendos. Rather than relying entirely on the instrumental conventions of post-rock, Oh Hiroshima use vocals as an atmospheric element and incorporate influences from shoegaze, indie rock, experimental music and progressive rock.
Their debut album, Resistance Is Futile, was independently released in 2011, followed by In Silence We Yearn in 2015. The latter significantly expanded their international audience and was subsequently issued through Fluttery Records and Napalm Records. After signing with Napalm, the band released Oscillation in 2019 and Myriad in 2022, further developing their balance of melodic restraint and heavier, cinematic intensity.
Oh Hiroshima joined Pelagic Records for All Things Shining in 2024. Their sixth studio album, And the Dead Tree Gives No Shelter, followed in 2026, broadening their sound through progressive structures, additional instrumentation and contributions from ten guest musicians. Across their discography, the band have established a distinctive form of emotionally charged post-rock built around atmosphere, gradual tension and cathartic release.
