Βιογραφικό

Michalis Hatzigiannis is a Cypriot singer-songwriter and composer born in Nicosia in 1978, with family roots in Kyrenia. He studied piano, classical guitar and music theory in Cyprus and began recording while still a teenager, earning early recognition before expanding his career to Greece. In 1998 he represented Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest with “Genesis”, a song he composed himself. That same period brought his first major work in Greece through the television soundtrack “Άγγιγμα Ψυχής”, followed by the album “Παράξενη Γιορτή” in 2000. Albums including “Κρυφό Φιλί”, “Ακατάλληλη Σκηνή”, “Φίλοι και Εχθροί” and “7” placed him at the centre of Greek-language pop during the 2000s. His writing joined pop-rock arrangements and laiko melodic language, while his work as a composer became as important to his catalogue as his role as a singer. Hatzigiannis later recorded the English-language album “Mihalis”, continued with releases such as “Η Αγάπη Δυναμώνει”, “Da Capo – Από την Αρχή”, “Unplugged” and “Terra Incognita”, and maintained an extensive concert career in Greece and Cyprus. His live performances draw on nearly three decades of songwriting, moving between piano-led ballads, guitar pop and full-band arrangements.
