Βιογραφικό

Giannis Ploutarchos is a Greek laiko singer and songwriter born Giannis Kakosaios in Mavrogia, near Orchomenos in Boeotia. Raised in a rural family where singing accompanied everyday work, he began performing as a child and later adopted the surname Ploutarchos at the suggestion of his first producer. He established himself professionally in the late 1990s and became one of the defining popular-laiko voices of the following decade. Albums including “Μικρές Φωτογραφίες”, “Δεν Είναι ο Έρωτας… Παιδί της Λογικής”, “Πάει Λίγος Καιρός” and “Όλα σε Σένα τα Βρήκα” produced a long sequence of radio and nightclub successes. Ploutarchos’s career has combined extensive residencies in major Athens venues with touring across Greece, Cyprus and Greek communities abroad. In 2011 he appeared at the Sanremo Music Festival with Al Bano Carrisi and soprano Dimitra Theodossiou, extending a catalogue already built around romantic laiko and contemporary pop production. Alongside interpretation, he has written songs of his own and continued recording across successive changes in the Greek mainstream. His live programmes are structured around the breadth of that catalogue, moving from intimate ballads to full-band laiko arrangements and recent collaborations, including appearances with his daughter Katerina Kakosaiou.
